Kirkland Oktoberfest Raises Money for Local Non-Profits

Deputy Mayor Jay Arnold did the honors of tapping the firkin, kicking off the fifth annual Kirkland Oktoberfest, which ran Sept. 22-24 at Marina Park in downtown.

The three-day event featured cold bier, hot sausages and sizzling oompah, as well as various games and multiple entertainment stages.

Founder Rob Butcher said he expected about 10,000 people to pass through the event last weekend.

“It’s a great community event,” Butcher said.

Last year, the event raised $17,500 for Kirkland-based nonprofits. This year proceeds will benefit the Kirkland Downtown Association, Rotary Club of Kirkland Downtown, American Cancer Society, Eastside Timebank, Sibling House, Imagine Housing and Mercer Island Eastside Orphans and Waifs.
